Our Pastor Keion Henderson The Lighthouse Church

If you’re seeking a community of Christians focused on being better every single day, then we’re the right fit for you. Ministries at LBC – Ministry boils down to service; when you minister you are serving others. This is how we practically work out the second part of the passion statement, to love people. This is where we use the gifts God has given us to build the church. Hopefully you are finding ways to serve others on your own, but if you are not sure where to start or would like to partner with other Christians joining one of LBC’s ministries is a great venue for service. Keep in mind that many of the ministries at LBC require membership.

Starting with five elder/pastors and around 50 congregants, Lighthouse held its first worship service on April 27, 2003 at Macgruder Middle School, moving to a cafeteria in Torrance High School later that year. Those early years of being a “church in a trailer” were an incredible time of spiritual growth as a church family. Support for local preservation organizations, investment in policy initiatives, and continued community advocacy efforts could help protect both the people and the institutions that make Little Tokyo irreplaceable. Minute Man National Historical Park and the nearby areas of Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, and Bedford are home to places important to American history, including Walden Pond and Woods and the preserved homesteads of authors and environmentalists. The parks and landmarks face a proposed expansion but advocates are speaking out against the project.

MISSION: TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

Decay and other issues put the building at risk of collapsing if nothing is done to preserve it, the National Trust for Historic Preservation noted citing engineering reports. Money is being raised to preserve the site and keep the lighthouse open to the public. The Estate Whim was a plantation producing cotton and sugar for export. Hurricanes have damaged many of Estate Whim Museum's historic buildings and the site needs support and resources to make repairs. This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks.

Lighthouse Community Church

Although community support for the church is strong, the building needs more upkeep and repairs than the small congregation can currently handle. More funding and partnerships are needed to fully preserve the church and ensure that it can remain part of community life for years to come. The Sitka Tlingit Clan Houses in southeast Alaska is important to both the history and the future of the Lingít (commonly spelled in English as "Tlingit"). Tlingit tribal citizens and supporters are working to preserve and celebrate the Sitka.

There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. Theodore Roosevelt High School in Gary was built in 1930 specifically to serve the educational needs of Black Americans, and has notable alumni including professional athletes, well-known actors, and members of The Jackson 5. A coalition of organizations are working together to restore and reuse the site in a way that honors the school’s historic significance to Gary, Indiana. Opened in 1874, the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse used to be one of several “middle-of-the-river” lighthouses on the Hudson River. However, due to erosion and other preservation challenges, engineering reports indicate the building is at risk of collapse within three years if no action is taken.

Since first debuting in 1988, the list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places has proven to be a highly effective tool for shining a light on the threats facing our nation’s greatest treasures. Due to the efforts of the National Trust and its passionate supporters, the 11 Most Endangered list has often provided the decisive force needed to preserve important cultural landmarks. Now in its 37th year, the ongoing initiative has galvanized public support behind more than 350 sites to date with only a handful lost. The National Trust for Historic Preservation today unveiled its 2024 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, an annual ranking that spotlights significant sites of American history that are at risk of destruction or irreparable damage.

He first served as a Deacon, became an Elder in 2005 and has served an additional five terms. He retired in 2010 from the Los Angeles Police Department as a Deputy Chief after 35 years of service. The truth is God does not distinguish man the way our imperfect society does. We welcome all into the Body of Christ regardless of your race, creed, or nationality.

Advocates are working to raise the funding needed to preserve the site and keep the lighthouse open to the public. The National Trust for Historic Preservation released a list of the most endangered historical places to bring awareness to these places. Some of the nation's most important sites have a history spanning generations, but attrition and a lack of repairs could threaten the future of the buildings.

Each flock does things a little differently, but all are a great way to get to know other believers at LBC. To join, just check out the flocks page and talk to one of the leaders. Fundamentals of the Faith (FOF) is a class offered on Sundays that teaches the foundational truths of Christianity in an accessible way. If you are interested in becoming involved in the life of the church it is important to first understand what that life is based on and around. It is good for both Christians and non-Christians alike, and is a great first step to getting involved in the church. M.V.P. – There are three principles that LBC rallies behind, which affect everything we do as a church. Children – One of the most frequent questions from visiting families is how their young children will fit in on Sunday. LBC is devoted to declaring the glory of God to the next generation, so we have a strong children’s ministry. The Gospel – Like any true church, we are a group of people who have been saved by Jesus Christ. We gather to worship Him in response to His love for us, and to build each other up into a closer relationship with God. At Lighthouse Church, we believe real life change happens through authentic relationship with God and one another.

Affinity groups are where we have smaller bible studies and fellowship activities for children, youth, collegians, single adults, and married couples. New Salem Baptist Church was built in 1921 and is one of the last reminders of the community and helps to tell the story of Black coal miners and their families in West Virginia. The church needs maintenance repairs and money to preserve the historical building. Membership – At Lighthouse we believe that becoming a member at a local church is an important part of obedience to biblical commands.

They choose Lighthouse Houston, because we make the Gospel accessible, easy to understand, and actionable. Affinity Groups – The Christian life is one of relationship, with God and with our Christian brothers and sisters. Relationships are where the “one another” commands are practically obeyed. At Lighthouse the formal outworking of this is the affinity group. Since the church is so large it is hard to disciple, encourage, and love one another by just going to Sunday worship services.
